The closest game was between Allied HOB Premier and FTNC Premier Reserve. Allied HOB had a goal lead at end of first quarter and led by 23 goals to 20 at half time. FTNC Premier Reserve then narrowed the score to be within one goal at end of third quarter and finished strongly to take the game 47 goals to 43. For FTNC Premier Reserve they had some new combinations, injuries, and illness so were happy to come away with the win. Chelcie Rowe at wing defence hustled and drove strong to be an option on attack while the in-circle defense of Anna Stevenson, Aimee Smythe and Claudia Fransen interchanged positions seamlessly. Simone Brandt at goal attack got some good shooting stats and her vertical elevation helped with rebounds and defense over the ball. Jorja Metcalfe at centre continues to show her strength in speed but also control of her pass.  With a new inexperienced Allied HOB Premier team this year, they came out strong with the shooting circle setting the tone early. Raechelle Kemara at goal attack and Te Moana Moetu at goal shoot led the charge with intensity and accuracy to start the game in what was a tightly contested one. Disappointed to let the opposition pull away in the final quarter however a lot to be proud of for the young team.

FTNC Premier and Lodge Rangers Premier Reserve also had a close game with the first quarter drawn at 8 all. At half time FTNC Premier led by 20 goals to 17. Rangers Premier Reserve narrowed the gap to be one goal at end of third quarter only to see FTNC Premier pull ahead in the final quarter winning 46 goals to 39. For Rangers Premier Reserve they faced a physical battle from the opening whistle. The opposition’s relentless defensive pressure disrupted the team’s attacking rhythm. To spark a comeback, the lineup was adjusted with Seree Coombe moving to centre and Sam Falkner entered at wing attack. These changes immediately improved the flow, utilizing clean, straight-line play to narrow the gap heading into the final quarter. Despite the third-quarter surge, Rangers were unable to sustain the momentum. For FTNC it was a slow start followed by a consistent performance across the other three quarters.

HGHS Langman took some time to find their rhythm but a strong second quarter saw the side settle into the game and take control.

At halftime, four young debutants took the opportunity to get on the court and they made an impact. Young Mila Williams at wing defence and Angela Lakokiperitania at goal defence combined well in the defensive end alongside experienced defender Awarua Twidle, who were all outstanding in creating pressure and forcing turnovers. Newcomer Mia Christensen worked tirelessly in the shooting circle and impressed with some outstanding shooting accuracy and composure under pressure, helping HGHS build momentum through the middle stages of the game. The defensive intensity lifted again in the fourth quarter with Jamie Fell entering at goal defence adding further pressure through the court. The energetic HGHS side continued to grow in confidence as the game progressed, showing strong connections and determination across all areas of the court. University Premier Reserve had a slow start but did manage to be ahead at end of first quarter.  The second quarter was close with both teams fighting to stay in the game.  Unfortunately, the third was challenging and the team could not settle. The team did rally and win the final quarter. With a largely new look team, they are showing growth, connections and game understanding.
