Premier A

The closest game was between Allied HOB Collins Premier and FTNC Premier Reserve with it being goal for goal. At end of first quarter the score was 13 goals to 9 to Allied HOB Premier but at half time the score was 23 goals to 21 to FTNC Premier Reserve. FTNC Premier Reserve extended their lead in the next quarter to be ahead 38 goals to 33. Allied Premier won the final quarter to narrow the gap but not enough to take the win. The full time score was 47 goals to 46. For FTNC Premier Reserve it was a slow start with some poor passing options. Zoe Rosser at goal shoot and Simone Blackburn at goal attack found some rhythm in the second quarter, sharing the shooting. Hannah Ngawhika at goal defence made some impressive intercepts and Olivia Hooker at goal keep confused the space and applied pressure on the shooters. Overall, less team errors enabling the team to win the quarter. The third quarter was closer, but the lead was erased with a quick first five goals to the opposition in the final quarter. Crucial tips and intercepts by Jorja Metcalfe at wing defence and Ngawhika kept the team in the game. Rosser was put under pressure when awarded a penalty shot in the last second of the game, but she stayed calm and composed. For Allied Premier they started strong but lost momentum in the second and third quarters despite a solid effort by the whole team. It was good to reconnect in the final quarter but not enough to take the win.

HGHS Langman WD Elise McKay

The two HGHS teams met again this week with the same result. At half time HGHS Langman led by 22 goals to 17 over HGHSOG Premier and the final score was 47 goals to 30.

In the all Align Health Rangers game, the Premier team were too good for the Premier Reserve team with the half time score being 44 goals to 21 and the fulltime score 77 goals to 49. The second half was closer than the first half.

University of Waikato Premier won their way into the final with a win over FTNC Premier. At half time, the score was 41 goals to 17 and the fulltime score was 76 goals to 40. Only the third quarter was close.

Premier B

Turangawaewae Premier went into their game the favourites, but were upset by a determined St Paul’s Collegiate Premier who will be in the final next week. At end of first quarter Turangawaewae Premier had a one goal lead with the score being 11 goals to 10 but at half time the score was drawn at 21 goals each. At the end of the third quarter St Paul’s had a five goal lead up 31 goals to 26.  At times in the final quarter the score got close and even though Turangawaewae won this quarter to narrow the gap, the final score was 39 goals to 36. For St Paul’s it was one of their best performances of the season, with a hard-fought win against the top side. After a slow start, the intensity was lifted to level the score at halftime. A strong third quarter gave the team the edge, and although the final minutes were tense, the team held on for a well-deserved victory. The shooting duo, Madi Judd and Olivia Waddell, worked cohesively and with patience to create space and find their way to the post under pressure. In defence, Caitlin Foote and Jasmine Davis impressed with quick footwork and tight marking, forcing valuable turnovers. The ball was transitioned smoothly through the court by Klaudia Horsfall at centre, with strong support from Ayva McKee and Anika Cowley at wing attack and Olivia Dunn at wing defence. It was a true team effort that showcased resilience, composure, and teamwork against tough opposition. Great to see the support by family and friends on the sidelines. For Turangawaewae Premier they went into the game mentally prepared, grabbed a hold from the first blow of the whistle as planned but just lost communication through court halfway through the first quarter. The physical game was there but being able to maintain control slowly started to drift away going in the second half. And while this result did not meet the team’s goal for the season the team will come back again stronger next season.

University of Waikato Premier had a competitive game against Northern United Sports Club Mamba to get into the final next week. At half time, the score was 25 goals to 22 and the fulltime score was 45 goals to 38.

Vetore Melville Premier Ashley Tualaulelei

Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier had a good win over Vetora Melville Premier with a half time score of 25 goals to 14 and a fulltime score of 43 goals to 30.

St Peter’s Premier were dominant in their game against Marist Verdettes Premier with the half time score being 32 goals to 16 and the fulltime score being 61 goals to 31.

The finals are on Thursday, 21 August 2025 at The Peak. Premier B final at 6:35 pm between St Paul’s Collegiate Premier and University of Waikato Premier Reserve and Premier A final at 8:10 pm between Align Health Rangers Premier and University of Waikato Premier.
