Premier A

The all HGHS game was so close with nothing in it for most of the game. At the end of the first quarter the game was drawn at 13 all and at half time HGHSOG Premier had a one goal lead, 27 goals to 26. Then, in the third quarter HGHS Langman took the lead with the score being 36 goals to 34. HGHS Langman finished strongly winning 49 goals to 39. A great competitive game with good club spirit displayed.

FTNC Premier started strong in what was a close game against Align Health Rangers Premier Reserve. At the end of the first quarter the score was 17 goals to 9 and at half time the score was 35 goals to 24. The third and final quarters were almost goal for goal. At three quarter time the score was 49 goals to 36 and the final score was 61 goals to 47 with Rangers Premier Reserve winning the final quarter by a goal. For FTNC Premier it was a hard-fought match and establishing an early lead was key. The whole team spent time on court with a range of combinations used, all of which worked well. The defensive unit of Kyla Rose Onehi-Karena, Keisha Noble, Mannor Fleming and Anna Biladi, combined brilliantly to turn over plenty of ball and keep the pressure on. The team are excited to carry this momentum into the semifinals next week. For Rangers Premier Reserve the opposition started strongly, and the team struggled to match their energy and pace in the first quarter. The team managed to come back in the next quarter to get within three goals, but FTNC Premier pushed out again. It was pleasing that the final three quarters were much closer and proud of the team for never giving up.

FTNC Premier C Anahia Noble

Align Health Rangers Premier had a comfortable win over Allied HOB Collins Premier, but the game was strongly contested. At half time, the score was 40 goals to 24 and the fulltime score was 82 goals to 43.

University of Waikato Premier Brooklyn Murray

University of Waikato Premier were dominant in their game against FTNC Premier Reserves, and they lead from start to finish winning every quarter. At half time, the score was 50 goals to 14 and the fulltime score was 89 goals to 29.

Premier B

Northern United Sports Club Mamba were lucky to take the win against St Peter’s Premier. At end of first quarter Mamba led by 15 goals to 9 and at half time the gap had narrowed by a goal with the score being 25 goals to 20. Mamba gained the goal back in the third quarter with the score being 37 goals to 31. St Peter’s had a gutsy final quarter to come within a goal with the final score being 45 goals to 44. For Mamba, the team knew it was going to be a tough game, so focused on making sure all opportunities were converted. It was a rough physical contest at both ends but defence were strong, and the shooters were consistent despite the height of the opposition including taking a basketball minded approach. There were no standout players—it was a true team effort, and the team was proud. For St Peter’s it was a tight game but full credit to the team for grit and determination. Despite trailing every quarter, they yet never gave up, fighting back when it mattered. Defensively the ball was hard to win, but the trio of Holly Proudlock, Natalie Johnson and Maya Tebutt produced key turnovers. On attack the players treasured possession and stuck to their structures, with Stella Isbister converting at 88% (well supported by Brylee Ingram and Sophie Hunter). The midcourt was tireless, consistently linking defence to attack with great work from Regan Gallien, Maia and Imogen Suttie. A tough result but a proud performance.

Turangawaewae Premier GS Ataria-Jay Tahapeehi Smith

Turangawaewae Premier were too strong for Vetora Melville Premier and at half time they led by 27 goals to 12 and the fulltime score was 58 goals to 24.  With this win Turangawaewae Premier go into the semi finals ranked first in Premier B.
