Premier A

Allied HOB Collins Premier and HGHS Langman had a close and competitive game. At the end of the first quarter HGHS Langman had a two goal lead but by half time they only led by a goal with the score being 28 goals to 27. By three quarter time the game was a draw. In the final quarter Allied HOB were able to finish strongly to win the game 51 goals to 45. For Allied HOB it was their second game against the young talented HGHS Langman side. At the attack end Tyler Downs at goal shoot, Tiara Tane at goal attack and Pania Monk at wing attack used patience and some smarts to convert turnover ball and to score from their own centre pass. The mid court of Kyra Collier at centre, Sammie Sullivan at wing defence along with defenders Suraiya Rewi at goal defence and Alex Abrahams at goal keep hustled, grinded and double marked which allowed them to get turnover ball. With only one change throughout the game the team was happy with the win. For HGHS Langman it was a strong start. At lot of changes were made throughout the game including for injury.  At times the height at both ends of the court was an advantage. The team was unlucky not to remain within 5 goals as the game was close for nearly the whole 60 minutes.

Align Health Rangers Premier and Premier Reserve

In the all Align Health Rangers game the Premier Reserve team gave the Premier team a run for their money especially in the first half. The Premier Reserve team started well to have a three goal lead at the end of the first quarter. By half time the Premier team had managed to get level with the score being 29 goal each. Then in the third quarter they were able to strengthen their lead and same again in the final quarter. Rangers Premier won the game 68 goals to 54. For Rangers Premier it was a big game as the team always finds it hard playing the reserves
team. As expected, they came out firing and it took the team a while to settle into their work. Proud that the team built and built, staying in the game and trusting the process. There was some great shooting from Abby Bartels at goal shoot under enormous pressure with solid feeding from Simmon Howe at wing attack with some dogged defence from Jess Jennings in midcourt. For Rangers Premier Reserve it was awesome to come up against the premier team and great for Rangers Netball to have both teams in the top 4. The team had a strong start to the game, converting centre passes and putting pressure on the opposition to force errors. Keeley Jones at goal attack had an outstanding performance shooting well and showing excellent attacking movement. The whole team put in a strong defensive effort, working hard throughout the game and it was great to see things worked on at training executed in the game.

FTNC Premier Reserve Hannah Ngawhika defends FTNC Premier GA Malissa Thompson

In the all FTNC game the Premier team led from start to finish. They led by 41 goals to 14 at half time and won the game 74 goals to 25. The game was played in good spirits with the Premier Reserve team never giving up.

University of Waikato were completely dominant in their game against HGHS Old Girls Premier and they were particularly ruthless in the final quarter stopping the opposition from scoring a single goal. At half time, the score was 46 goals to 10 and they won the game 97 goals to 18.

Premier B

University of Waikato Premier Reserve GD Siana Boladuadua and GK Beige Cooper defending St Paul's Collegiate Premier GA Livvy Perenara

University of Waikato Premier Reserve and St Paul’s Collegiate Premier had an epic battle. St Paul’s had a one goal lead at the end of the first quarter and maintained that into half time with the score being 18 goals to 17. They were able to increase their lead by two goals in the third quarter and won the game by 38 goals to 33. For St Paul’s it was a thrilling contest, with the team coming away with a well-earned victory. The match remained close throughout, before the team managed to pull ahead through determined effort and teamwork. The win was a whole team performance, built on relentless whole-court defensive pressure creating valuable turnover ball. The team showed incredible work ethic and commitment, backing each other on and off the court. Captain Jasmine Davis led by example, taking several key interceptions and lifting the intensity. For University Premier Reserve they had their chances and to their credit kept fighting until the end. They were always in the hunt but on the night could not get the win in what was a very close and strongly contested game.

NUSC Mamba GD Darcy Briggs defends Vetora Melville Premier GS Sera Taei

Northern United Sports Club Mamba were tested by Vetora Melville Premier despite a very strong first quarter which saw them ahead by 10 goals. The next quarter was a draw with the half time score being 29 goals to 19. The third and final quarters were close. Mamba won the game 59 goals to 44. For Mamba, the team were determined to start strong after a disappointing result on Sunday and they delivered. Melville’s tall, talented shooter proved challenging to contain, but the defence stepped up, worked harder, and did a great job disrupting the shooter’s rhythm. After a strong start the rest of the game was a point-for-point battle. The team maintained great energy and positive vibes from the first whistle to the final whistle. It was a team performance, with strong communication on court especially from Ataahua Anderson on in the second half at goal attack who had an outstanding game. For Melville Premier they held their own on court with some excellent defence from Danielle Saint at goal defence who helped keep them in the game. The gap in the score was due to the team’s own mistakes causing turnover ball. It was an enjoyable game.

Turangawaewae Premier GD Pourewa Ruri-Clarke defends Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier GS Grace Farrelly

Turangawaewae Premier were too strong this week for Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier after a very comprehensive first quarter. The second quarter was close, but the damage had been done. The half time score was 22 goals to 11. In the third and final quarters Turangawaewae Premier were able to increase their lead winning the game 43 goals to 19.

St Peter’s Premier were dominant in their game against Marist Verdettes Premier.  At half time they led by 32 goals to 9 and they won the game 71 goals to 18.
