Premier A
It was a great game between Align Health Rangers Premier Reserve and HGHS Langman with not much in it for most of the game. At half time Rangers Premier Reserve led by 26 goals to 21. They went on to increase their lead in the second half to win the game 51 to 42, however the score was not a reflection of how competitive the game was. For Rangers Premier Reserve it was a tight game against a skilled HGHS side. Kate Mackay at goal defence had a fantastic game turning over ball and working tirelessly to bring the ball through court. The shooters kept composure against some intense pressure over the shot and overall managed to increase the lead every quarter. For HGHS Langman it was a great effort despite having to make changes due to injury later in the game. A valiant effort by the team.
Align Health Rangers Premier GS Abby Bartels defends University of Waikato Premier WD Kaiya Kepa |
With the return of a number of current and ex NNL (National Netball League) players to both University of Waikato Premier and Align Health Rangers Premier teams this was a great spectator game with a lot of fast ball and aerial play. At half time Rangers Premier led by 30 goals to 24 and they won the game 56 goals to 43. Both teams made changes throughout the game. For Rangers Premier the team was pleased with their performance. They came out firing right from the start and put pressure on all areas of the court, whilst successfully scoring turnovers gained. Great to have two NNL players into the team full-time and first time back for the coach. It was nice to also get all players onto the court for valuable game experience. Stand out performers were defenders Lucy Sidwell and Sophie Reeves who put immense pressure on the Uni shooters and created numerous turnover opportunities. Captain Emily Ussher at the other end, maintained calm throughout and fed with finesse, while maintaining a high shooting rate. For University Premier it was a very competitive game. The team was disconnected in the attacking end throughout the whole game unfortunately. A full team training is needed with the recent inclusion of the NNL players so super excited for the potential of this team once they train and play more together in the coming weeks. Very happy to have the three high school girls on the court in such a high skilled game, who came on and all played incredibly well.
FTNC Premier Reserves were too strong for HGHSOG Premier despite a very close first half. At half time the score was 25 goals to 24. FTNC Premier Reserves had a stronger second half to win the game 53 goals to 39.
Allied HOB Collins Premier GA Kyra Collier & C Sammie Sullivan |
FTNC Premier were dominant this week over Allied HOB Collins Premier and they led from start to finish. FTNC Premier also had some NNL players return to the squad. At half time the score was 39 goals to 25. In the second half FTNC Premier just went from strength to strength winning the game 84 goals to 47.
Premier B
St Paul's Collegiate Premier GK Zoe Tebbutt & GD Caitlin Foote defend Turangawaewae Premier GS Shonya Wilson & GA Te Riina Kapea
Turangawaewae
Premier had a win over St Paul’s Collegiate Premier but the game was close. At
the end of the first quarter the score was 9 goals to 8 and at half time
Turangawaewae led by 19 goals to 15. They were able to further increase their
lead over the third and final quarters to win the game by 40 goals to 27. For
St Paul’s the team started the match with great intensity and composure. At the
end of the first quarter, the team was just one goal behind showing promising
signs on both ends of the court. The team defence was a real highlight,
consistently putting pressure on the opposition and generating valuable
turnover ball. However, the team struggled to capitalise on this defensive
effort, with attacking timing and court movement not quite coming together.
This made it difficult to transition the ball through court and convert
turnovers into goals. Caitlin Foote read play well on defence, working
tirelessly and getting her hand to a lot of ball, disrupting the flow of the
opposing team. In the shooting circle, Livvy Perenara displayed confidence and
determination, moving the circle well and taking her shots under pressure.
For Turangawaewae, the whole team is improving defensively every week.
University of Waikato Premier Reserve GK Siana Boladuadua defends Vetora Melville Premier GS Sera Taei |
University of Waikato Premier Reserve had to work hard to get the win against Vetora Melville Premier. Melville finished strong winning the final quarter. For Melville despite a low scoring first quarter bringing Sera Taie on at goal shoot meant that the attacking end was able to bring back some well-earned points with the overall result an improvement from the first time the team play University. Overall defence was strong and there was some solid attacking. For University Premier Reserve they had a great start but were not able to maintain the momentum but still good to get the win. Full time score was 49 goals to 34.
St Peter’s Premier and Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier game had a lot of spectator support. At half time St Peter’s led by 24 goals to 13 and they won the game 47 goals to 29. The third quarter was very close.
Marist Verdettes Ella Readman & GD Natasha Wilson |
Northern
United Sports Club Mamba were dominant in their game against Marist Verdettes
Premier 1 with only the final quarter close. The final score was 54 goals to
21.
Games were also held on Sunday, 20th July 2025.
