Premier A

In the all Align Health Rangers game there was not much in it with great competitive comradery. Rangers Premier held a slim two goal lead at the end of the first quarter but at half time lead 34 goals to 29. They strengthened their lead in the third and final quarters, winning 65 goals to 48. At times both teams were challenged.

HGHS Langman had a strong first quarter to set them up for a win against Allied HOB Collins Premier. Up by 10 goals at the end of the first quarter they were ahead 31 goals to 19 at half time. They then had a good third quarter with the final quarter closer, winning the game 59 goals to 37.

FTNC Premier were too good for Allied HOB Collins Premier but the game was played in good spirits. At half time FTNC Premier led by 31 goals to 19 and they won the game 62 goals to 39.

University of Waikato Premier were dominant in their game against HGHS Old Girls Premier winning every quarter. At half time they led by 37 goals to 15 and they won the game 75 goals to 34.

Premier B

The closest game of the night was that between St Paul’s Collegiate Premier and Turangawaewae Premier. St Paul’s started strong to lead by six goals at end of first quarter and the gap increased by half time to see them leading 25 goals to 17. Turangawaewae had a comprehensive third quarter to be just two goals behind. They were able to maintain the intensity in the final quarter to win 40 goals to 37. The Turangawaewae team is continuing to develop and adjust to the premier competition working with a variety of combinations. They were resilient and showed commitment to win the game. For St Paul’s the game was a hard-fought contest that ended in a narrow loss. The team started strong, executing the first half with discipline and cohesion, establishing a solid platform. The second
half proved to be much more physical, challenging the players to adapt under pressure. Throughout the game, a range of team combinations were used, allowing players valuable experience in various positions. This provided an excellent opportunity for individual development and to build versatility across the team. Despite the result, a standout positive was the strong and connected defensive unit, which worked tirelessly throughout the match. The team can be proud of their effort and will take away key learnings to build on in future games.

St Paul's Collegiate Premier vs Turangawaewae Premier

Northern United Sports Club Mamba and St Peter’s Premier had a competitive game. Despite a slow start by St Peter’s to be behind by four goals at end of first quarter, by half time the score was 16 goals to 15. Across the next two quarters Mamba were able to increase their lead to take the win 34 goals to 25. For Mamba, the team played well together with some great ball tips and intercepts by defence and this was converted into points by a strong shooting circle. The team knew it would be a tough game, and it was a team effort to finish with the win.  For St Peter’s it was a challenging match against a strong Mamba side. There was plenty of contesting throughout, and while our players didn’t quite find their usual rhythm, there were clear strengths on display. St Peter’s showed real intent on first phase attack off the centre pass and consistently took the ball strongly under pressure. Despite moments of solid defensive pressure, opportunities weren’t always converted. The players gave their all to stay in the game, but the result ultimately went Mamba’s way.

Marist Verdettes GA passing to their GS

Melville Vertora Premier were too good this week for Marist Verdettes Premier however the second and third quarters were close. At half time, the score was 19 goals to 12 and the fulltime score was 40 goals to 25.

Brooklyn Nicholson at GA for University of Waikato Premier Reserves and Lizzie Foy at GK for Waikato Diocesan for Girls

University of Waikato Premier Reserves had a dominant win (like the premier team) in their game against Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier. At half time, the score was 22 goals to 9 and the fulltime score was 47 goals to 16.
