Premier A

University of Waikato Premier had to dig deep to take the win against a spirited Align Health Rangers Premier Reserves. This was a fast paced and exciting game to watch. University Premier got a bit of a lead at the end of the first quarter but the second quarter was a draw with the score being 27 goals to 22. Rangers Premier Reserve won the third quarter by one goal and the final quarter was again a draw. The final score was 55 goals to 51. For University Premier, Kiaarah Wilson at goal shoot and goal attack shot amazingly with an overall 90% plus shooting percentage. Rangers Premier Reserves were an awesome side that really challenged the team who struggled to reward turnover ball that was obtained. The University team has three high school girls and a few other players who are new to the Premier grade so the game was a great pressure challenge for them and showed where improvements can be made. For Rangers Premier Reserves they kept managing to pull back within two or three goals and then an error would bring the margin back out again. Very proud of the team for staying in it right until the last whistle and it was great to try out a few different combinations against such a quality side like University Premier. Mereaina Alexander at goal shoot was outstanding shooting 42 goals from 43 attempts.

In the all HGHS matchup between HGHS Langman and HGHSOG Premier there was nothing in this game. At the end of the first quarter HGHS Langman led by a goal and the second quarter was a draw. The half time score was 19 goals to 18. HGHS Langman won the third quarter by a goal but had a massive final quarter to win the game 43 goals to 35. For HGHSOG the game was a great display of what makes the team special, a mix of old school grit and new school energy. It was a privilege playing alongside some of the up-and-coming talent. At the first whistle the team started strong with Puhirere (HGHSOG) at wing attack grabbing an intercept. The team capitalised on this taking an early lead. Puhirere worked tirelessly across all four quarters, combining seamlessly with Leiana Tukia at centre, who constantly switched between attack and defence. The defensive trio of Kitana at goal keep, Te Aomihia Olliver-Samuels at goal defence and Sky Bishop at wing defence worked relentlessly to force turnover ball. Shooting duo, Ocean Tahu-M and Dannie Moeke-Ferris, faced the tall timber in the circle up against players nearly three times their height. They held their own with poise, creativity, and flair, making the most of every opportunity. For HGHS Langman it was a real team effort for the entire game with some great defensive play throughout the court particularly in the final quarter creating turnover ball and the team did well to convert.

In the all FTNC game the Premier Reserves team led at the end of the first quarter by two goals. FTNC Premier in the second quarter came back with a vengeance to lead 27 goals to 20. They again had a strong third and final quarter to win the game 60 goals to 39.

Player in yellow bib at WA for FTNC Premier Reserves is Jaimie Jagoe being defended by Kyla-Rose Onehi-Karena at GK for FTNC Premier

Align Health Rangers Premier were too strong this week for Allied HOB Premier due to a slow start by Allied. Rangers Premier led by 37 goals to 17 at half time. The second half was a lot more competitive and the final score was 66 goals to 42.

Premier B

St Paul’s Premier had a tight game against Northern United Sports Club Mamba with the difference being made in the third quarter. St Paul’s started strong to win the first quarter but then Mamba flipped this in the second quarter to lead by 25 goals to 20. St Paul’s then had their best quarter in the third and the final quarter was very close. The final score was 49 goals to 42. For St Paul’s they played cohesively as a team in the first quarter however, in the second quarter, Mamba were strong on attack and disrupted the flow of the attack. The shooting duo of Madi Judd and Livvy Perenara worked the circle movement well to create space. The team had a very strong third quarter, ably led by captain Jasmine Davis at goal defence, inspiring the team to continue to work together creating turnover ball and scoring from these. For Mamba they had players filling in as several of the team were away. In the second quarter Darcy Briggs came on at goal defence having an immediate impact and the team was able to take the lead by half time. Due to other team changes to ensure all players got court time the team lost momentum and couldn’t pull back the game.

Regan Gallien playing for St Peter's Premier

St Peter’s Premier and Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier had a great game with nothing in it for the first quarter. At half time St Peter’s led by 21 goals to 15. They extended their lead in the third quarter but the final quarter was close. The fulltime score was 46 goals to 29.

University of Waikato Premier Reserves were too good for Melville Vetora Premier and at half time they led by 24 goals to 10 and they won the game 48 goals to 18.

Turangawaewae Premier was too strong for Marist Verdettes Premier 1 and they dominated throughout.  The half time score was 39 goals to 6 and the fulltime score was 75 goals to 17.
