Premier A
The closest game was that between Lodge Rangers Premier
and University of Waikato Premier Reserves. At end of first quarter Rangers
Premier led by 15 goals to 14 but at half time they had increased their lead to
be ahead by 33 goals to 24. By end of third quarter, they led by 49 goals to 38
and they finished strongly to win the game 64 goals to 48. For University
Premier Reserves their defensive pressure from all players shut down the Rangers
driving lines, forcing them into lateral passes. Sophia Scaramuzza at wing
defence clamped down on her opposition, shadowing every move, using agile
footwork and a physical 45-degree angle to force the play wide setting herself
up for multiple clean intercepts throughout the entire game. Underneath
the goal ring, Rachel Elliot at goal shoot pulled in lobs and controlled the
shooting circle with composure. University Premier Reserves demonstrated
physicality and speed along with strong circle edge drives throughout. For
Rangers Premier it was a tight contest particularly the first quarter. As the
game progressed the defensive pressure lifted and created more opportunities
for attack to settle and work the ball through the court. Some uncharacteristic
turnovers prevented the score line from extending further it was a solid team
effort and strong result in the end.
Lodge Rangers Premier Reserve and FTNC Premier Reserve had a competitive game with the score being 25 goals to 19 at half time to the Rangers Premier Reserve and the fulltime score was 61 goals to 43. The damage was done in the third quarter where Rangers Premier Reserve dominated.

Turangawaewae Premier came back from a loss last week to have win against University of Waikato Premier. They led from start to finish. At half time, the score was 29 goals to 17 and at fulltime the score was 55 goals to 36. University Premier finished strong in the final quarter but all a little too late.

FTNC Premier were dominant in their game against HGHS
Langman. At half time they led by 32 goals to 16 with a big second quarter and
they won the game 59 goals to 33 with a another big final quarter.

Premier B
Northern United Sports Club Mamba and Te Awamutu College
Senior Premier had a highly contestable game. At end of first quarter the score
was 15 goals to 8 to Te Awamutu but by half time the score was 22 goals to 21.
Mamba were then strong across the next two quarters leading by 34 goals to 31
at third quarter and winning the game by 46 goals to 42. For Mamba it was not a
great start being down after the first quarter. A few positional changes made all the
difference a decision made by Nat Shaw as Manager. With Nat at goal defence and
Pania Monk at goal keep, they formed a defensive combination that shut down the
opposition shooters, and they picked up numerous intercepts along with some
valuable defensive rebounds. The attacking end also found their rhythm and were
able to feed the shooters effectively. Te Awamutu College produced one
of their strongest starts of the season with Rylee Poa Dampney at wing
attack delivering an efficient and effective performance to help her side
establish early momentum. Supported by a determined team effort, Te Awamutu
College focused on playing their own game and were rewarded with a lead at the
first break. What followed was an exciting contest, with play flowing
end-to-end for much of the match. Mumba gradually worked their way back into
the game to narrow the margin. Despite showing resilience and commitment to
working together as a unit, Mumba edged ahead in the closing stages to secure the
win. Despite this outcome, the game showcased the team's growth, teamwork, and
ability to compete strongly against quality opposition.

St Peter’s Premier and Allied HOB Premier also had a
great game with St Peter’s leading 7 goals to 6 at end of first quarter. At
half time however the game was drawn at 16 all. Then in the third quarter St
Peter’s crept ahead to lead by 28 goals to 24 and the final quarter was again
close. The final score was 41 goals to 35. For St Peter’s it was
a strong team effort against Allied HOB. The team connected in all areas of
court and stayed composed and calm regardless of the scoreline. With a reduced
squad due to illness and injury, the players all needed to step up and do their
job which they did. A gutsy effort to play one of their strongest games of the
season. For Allied HOB it was a good tight tussle between the two
teams. The injection of new combination of Raechelle Kemara and Te Moana
Moetu in the defence circle provided plenty of deflections and gains for the
team.
Unfortunately, with several injuries arising from the
game Allied HOB were unable to take the win from a solid St Peter's team.
Ngā Taiātea Wharekura were too strong for HGHS OG Premier
with them leading by 25 goals to 14 at half time and winning the game 55 goals
to 31.
Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier and St Paul’s
Collegiate Premier played on the Wednesday night, and this was a game of two
halves. St Paul’s led by 17 goals to 15 winning the first half but Waikato
Diocesan came back in the second half to win by 35 goals to 27.
